Mindfulness for Wellbeing

Wellness is highly prized, especially when facing mental illness and its profound impact on overall health. Yet, it is possible to be ill and be well simultaneously. The practice of mindfulness is one avenue to achieve wellbeing. This workshop focuses on conceptualizations of mindfulness, the plethora of benefits it affords, and immediate examples of mindfulness practices. Through individual and group participation, mindfulness is explored and experienced multi-sensorially. Current and seminal scholarly research examining the positive correlations between dimensions of well-being, such as self-acceptance and personal growth, and mindfulness is presented. Participants are encouraged to engage with mindfulness in a presenter-led practice and then share their experience via discussion and questions.
